The steps to buying.

Buying a home typically involves a number of different steps, so we’ve broken it down for you:

Step 1: Agreeing a purchase price with the agent and vendor after you have decided this is the property for you.

Step 2: Instructing the legal process and ensuring the conveyancer or solicitor has all the details

Step 3: Instructing the survey which is normally done by your mortgage company so you can obtain a mortgage offer.

Step 4: Exchange of legal documents between your legal team and the vendor’s legal team. Congratulations the property is now yours.

Step 5: Completion. This is when the money is actually paid by your legal team to the vendor. You can now collect the keys and move in. This is normally 1 week after exchange but does vary.
