St Andrew’s is a beautiful green suburb situated north of the city centre. Neighbouring the suburbs of Bishopton and Montpelier, it is an area steeped in history and benefits from lovely local amenities and a range of things to do.

Residential property in St Andrew’s consists of big and roomy houses, some of which have been converted into flats. Mostly built in the 19th century, you can expect plenty of period charm with high ceilings, original features and some pretty impressive views over the city.

Whilst the area itself is close to lots that Bristol has to offer, one of the finest things to do is visit St Andrew’s Park. A large, grassy area, it benefits from a fantastic children’s playground, a seasonal paddling pool and public toilets. This is a wonderful place to visit all year round, but especially thrives in the summertime when you’ll find people sunbathing, picnicking or throwing frisbees around. Other close by leisure amenities include the Redland Green Club – complete with a fitness centre and racquet sports and the Redland Green Bowling Club. 

You’re but a mere stroll from some of the best shopping opportunities in the city here. Gloucester Road is close by, with its huge mix of independent traders, greengrocers and butchers, or you could venture slightly further afield to Redland. Here you’ll find the delightful Chandos Road, full of some of the best eateries around, including No man’s Grace (www.nomansgrace.com) and the highly-acclaimed Wilsons (www.wilsonrestaurant.co.uk). There are also lots of independent shops including a health food store, wine shop and bakery.

If you’ve got little ones, you’re spoilt for choice. There are five schools in the surrounding areas, including the independent Redland High and Bristol Steiner School, and the Cotham School (rated Ofsted 2010 “outstanding”).

St Andrew’s is incredibly well-connected. There’s bus stops all up and down Gloucester Road, an abundance of cycle lanes and you’re within walking distance of the city centre, with its wider shopping opportunities, leisure and cultural amenities.
